Napa was a blast. We did it right, that is for sure. It was a perfectly planned weekend, from our meals, to our tours to our naps. Not too much I would change from my post Thursday, except for next time around I would probably not venture to Peju but to Del Dotto which we heard good things about.
The highlights of our trip came the last day-boy..what a perfect way to say goodbye. Based on several recommendations for wine tour tasters, somaliers and those “in the know” we went to Cade Winery perched 4 miles above the Valley. This is what sets it apart from everything I have seen my 4 times in Napa: incredible and unparalleled views, amazingly delicious wines, hip music and furniture, infinity water feature glistening in the sun amongst the forest trees and it’s the first GOLD-LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified winery in Napa Valley and the only one in California. Check out where we had our tasting:
Need I say more? Worth the drive, no questions asked. Our last and final meal was at Farmstead Restaurant at Long Meadow Ranch. I had read about it in Food and Wine Magazine and knew it would be special as it’s claim to fame is farm to table food; serving local, sustainable and organic ingredients right from their garden. We sat in the most amazing covered patio surrounded by apple trees and mason jars filled with flowers lining all the tables.
Last but certainly not least I cannot leave out our special dessert at Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen. Their Campfire Pie was UNBELIEVABLE. Toasted marshmallow fluff, fudgy chocolate, almonds and an Oreo crust? Shut the front door!!!! Sold!
I am glad this was such a special time for 4 great friends.
Looks amazing!
