Nightime Music and Animals at the LA Zoo

I’ve written about how much I love the Summer Sounds at the Hollywood Bowl for kids, but this could be my next favorite event.

Music in the Zoo is a family-friendly open-air festival.  Sounds of steel drums, guitars, and other instruments float through the night air as visitors stroll throughout the Zoo, enjoying a variety of musical acts from 6-9pm.  Some of the animals will stay up past their bedtimes and be out on exhibit as well.  Mark your calendars and plan on attending:

* July 15, 2011 – Local Scene – Features indie bands from around Los Angeles playing original material.
* July 28, 2011 – Classic Rock – Features tribute bands performing covers of popular songs by U2, the Grateful Dead, the Eagles, the Beatles, the Doors, and more.

Bring your own picnic basket or purchase food there and dine under the stars. Tickets seem to go fast…so figure out if you can go or not and buy your tickets online.

Ticket prices for members are $13 for adults and $8 for children ages 6-15; nonmember ticket prices are $17 for adults and $11 for children ages 6-15. There is no admission charge for children age 5 and under.
