Taqueria Escuela

We had an early dinner here one night with the kids and our friends Jason and Allana. I had been wanting to try this place for a while and was so excited to pretty much have the place to ourselves (at 5:30 pm on a Saturday night). Super quaint and cute with kitschy wooden shoes hanging from the ceiling.  It’s a small 25-seat restaurant with a rotating menu of about a dozen different tacos, such as duck, pork, birria, tongue and cheek. Toppings include pickled cactus, habanero coleslaw and pumpkin seed gremolata. Tacos come two to an order and cost $6 to $10. You can also opt for a side like calabacita, Mexican-style corn on the cob (amazing a la Cafe Habana), rice, beans, churros (with chocolate dipping sauce yum!) and popsicles.

escuela1We ordered a little bit of everything.
