About Tools For School:
A simple, yet very powerful project of which the goal is to prepare children in need to start the school year with the supplies they need. With these valuable tools, each child will feel competent, motivated, and proud to attend school.

Currently there are over 750,000 children enrolled in 713 LAUSD schools. Seventy-five percent of these students live on the fringe of poverty or below the poverty level, and 16,500 of those children are part of the LAUSD Homeless Education program. Studies have shown that children who have the basic tools required in the classroom have higher levels of confidence and self-esteem, leading to greater achievement and socialization in school.

Each year, JFS’ Tools for School program gives over 3,000 children some of the key building blocks for success by providing backpacks filled with the necessary basic school supplies.
